Alla Prima Painting

This is the service I've been doing since 2004. "Alla Prima" means all at first. This is a painting created in one sitting, mostly finished on site. It is an impressionist painting, capturing the energy of your event in rapid brush strokes.
Alla Prima Painting Prices
Current pricing, below, is based on the size of the painting (shown in inches). Custom sizes available. As is common in the wedding biz, a 50% deposit reserves the date. The balance is due at the time of the wedding, including Washington State sales tax, if applicable. We'll need to discuss travel fees (air fare, lodging) for events requiring travel.
24 x 30 $2800
24 x 36 $3100
24 x 40 $3500
30 x 40 $4500

Studio Finish from Live Painting & Photos

This option is more like a portrait, begun live, but with carefully drawn main figures, working both from life and photos, and lovingly finished at the studio in layers of detail.
4 x 30 $4500
24 x 36 $5500
24 x 40 $6500
30 x 40 $8000
36 x 48 $10,000
Larger, or with the whole party in full detail? Let’s plan it together.
This particular painting draws on many reference photos. Whimsically, the groom stood on a box to be as tall as his bride. But there were no photos that showed the box; it was always obscured by the bride's wind-blown veil. I have taken portions of several paintings and combined them, and invented others to make it all fit in the composition.

The painting below was created first as an alla prima at the wedding, and recreated in the studio with additional photo reference.

Wedding Guest Portraits
This is the hottest trend in live wedding painting. Your guests stand before me for a few minutes, while I quickly draw them pencil, then color them in a few strokes of watercolor. A rubber stamp with your logo goes in the corner, and after a quick blow dry, the paintings can go home with your guests. I use a 6 x 8 cold press water color block to prevent warping while drying, and deliver in a white paper carrying bag.
