Alla Prima Painting
This is the service I've been doing for over eighteen years. "Alla Prima" means all at first. This is a painting created in one sitting, mostly finished on site. It is an impressionist painting, capturing the energy of your event in rapid brush strokes.
Alla Prima Painting Prices
Current pricing, below, is based on the size of the painting (shown in inches). Custom sizes available. As is common in the wedding biz, a 50% deposit reserves the date. The balance is due at the time of the wedding, including Washington State sales tax, if applicable. We'll need to discuss travel fees (air fare, lodging) for events requiring travel.
24 x 30 $2800

Studio Painting from Live Painting & Photos
This service starts with the alle prima painting. But then I go back to the studio and create a whole new painting, more carefully composed, and lovingly finished, sometimes exceeding 40 hours of work. I use the first painting as a preliminary sketch, augmented with candid photos. You get both paintings, included in the price below.

Wedding Guest Portraits
This is the hottest trend in live wedding painting. Your guests stand before me for a few minutes, while I quickly draw them pencil, then color them in a few strokes of watercolor. After a quick blow dry, the paintings can go home with them. I use a 6 x 8 cold press water color block, to prevent warping while drying.
When I first added #guestportraits to my services earlier this year, they didn't have faces. That was because that seemed to be the standard. But after 35+ years of doing #caricatures, and 20 years of doing #liveweddingpainting s in oils, the faces just naturally crept back in. So I'll let my competitors fuss over the clothing and leave the faces off. My #weddingguestportraits are quick sketches (3-5 minutes per couple), and my hope is that however sketchy and lacking in detail, they have some recognizable je ne sais qoia that connects with the people. It should help them remember that they were here.
